For more than forty years, Umeå university - inaugurated in 1965 and situated in northern Sweden - has exceeded all expectations and proven itself as an important regional, national and international factor. Today, there are 29000 students, 2000 courses and 150 study programmes covering all major academic subjects, and 4000 employees conducting scientific research and education.
