Better widget for simple mode
I doubt HSV is easy for children.
I suggest color palette for simple mode.

This also would me nice for advanced mode because sometimes you want the same color for two objects, but it would get old having to go to options to switch between advanced and simple mode every time you wanted to use the color palette maybe just have it as a setting under appearance.

Yeah, actually, sometimes I want to set perfectly same color for two objects.
And I think dropper-tool (pick color from image tool. cf: Dropper tool (Inkscape) ) is enough and better to do so.

Great suggestion, but that colour palette should have "add new colour" option. It would allow to click with simple mode any colour we want.
And about that colour picker would be greatest colour update, becouse I do have to change objects color all the time to keep them in same colour. I hope these suggestions will be in next Phun.

I don't think that "add new colour"-option is needed for simple mode.
Simple mode should be simple.

maybe different color pallets? like "human","nature","liquids","army".. especially when those color buttons can also apply textures
