Check out the Algodoo video on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qa9xn-xYQQk
In the video, Algodoo is running on the Intel-powered convertible classmate PC. We are amazed that this little notebook delivers such performance and it is totally cool to use Algodoo with the touch screen and the accelerometer!

That's just amazing! It seems to have most of the stuff people have been asking for. I hope it gets released soon.

The different between my computer and that laptop is that my computer does not have an accelerometer and touch screen. Both aren't necessary or crucial to running the program (from the looks of it).

1. this is the same vid as on the algoryx website
2. most laptops have accelerometers in their hard drives(?) that are used to protect the reading mechanics from shocks..those can be used with modfied drivers ![]()

Only to detect force of a drop. The only use I know of is the USGS using the accelerometers with software installed on volunteer computers to track earthquakes. The accelerometers only detect drops or other spikes in motion, not slight tilting.

There is no "should be", that's the way it currently is and the way it's going to be.

the sensor isn't built into the hard drive, but is on the motherboard of certain lenovo laptops. the accelerometer can detect more than just drops, it's just that the supplied drivers only take action upon detecting a drop. there is a driver in the linux kernel that supports using accelerometers as normal input devices. i don't know if such a driver exists for windows or mac

Maybe we don't have beta 5 because Algoryx is focusing more on Algodoo because they can make money off of it, and with Phun they can't.

I can't take the tension for beta 5!!! I'm gonna die of suspense!!

Good thing the answer is no then. have you forgotten how much they have said they are going to continue phun? Anyway, Algodoo looks like a good program, and I like all the features it has.
