If you are having issues running Phun on your computer, here,s a checklist of common fixes:
Operating System:
Am I running Windows 2000 or better, Linux 32/64 Bit, or Mac OSX (PowerPC or Intel Architecture)?
Are my graphics drivers up-to-date?
Is my operating system fully updated?
In game lag:
Did I disable Anti-Aliasing?
Is Simple Water Rendering enabled?
If the previous don't work, am I using 16-Bit Textures?
If you just downloaded Phun, and it crashes on loading, go into the Scenes folder in the Phun directory, and delete Welcome.phn.
Multi-core information: Phun does NOT support multiple cores, but this IS a planned feature.
If the above DOES NOT HELP, and you tried it, post in the Help forum.

i double posted on purpose, too keep the OP clean. I believe this thread should be stickied (in Phun In General AND Help/Bug Reports) because it shows the basic steps that everybody overlooks when they download Phun, and, most of the time, the above do the trick.

Linux. 36bit. AMD. Yes. Yes. Yes. Crashes when I add pens.
EDIT: On windows it crashes, but on Linux it hardly even works, so I don't use it on there. Circles turn into squares, and it's laggy.

I would like to add that if phun crashes after messing around with the program code, go and delete the config file from the phun directory. This can help
Offline
apparently you can't add that...
one to add
visit windows update and install the updates ( windows xp/vista )
Offline
apparently you do.
not 100% sure though.

Hi!
My name is Pedro IŽm a 30 years old child from Brazil and just started playing with Phun.
well I didint know where to post, so iŽll post here. Please move the post if necessary.
I didnŽt note people using "mirror" function in theyr creations.. I didnŽt see much creations, but as far as I saw the cars wont change sides.
So.... Use it! I use to assign arrow keys to control wheel hinges (no motors yet). Then I select all the model and assign "up" or "w" to mirror, then the car, or bike can go either sides.
Cheers and thank all of you for this very useful forum. And I knee to Emil ! He changed my life ![]()

Hi Pedro, I use the mirror function on many of my scenes. In a couple of my helicopter scenes you can fly in both directions. In my Submarine scene I placed some of the objects in places so that the sub has to face the other way so the robotic arm can pick them up.
EDIT: I forgot to mention, in my Vietnam helicopter scene I found that the mirror worked fine on the helicopter until I fired any ammo. Then the mirror went whacky, the mirror must use the center of mass and once you fire any ammo the helicopters center of mass was no longer the same, the ammo fired was now really far away and had moved the center of the mass. If you leave the ammo out of the mirror function then the ammo wont stay with the helicopter when mirrored so in that scene I couldnt use the mirror function.
Also I have had to add a transparent box or circle to objects to adjust the mass so the center of mass would allow other non mirrored objects to stay inside of the mirrored object like in my submarine scene.
The objects the robot arm placed in the subs basket wouldnt always stay in the basket when you mirrored the sub, but when you adjust the subs center of mass the basket area will usually stay centered after the mirror so the objects will stay in the basket. I adjusted the subs mass with a transparent circle attached to the back of the sub. You have to move the transparent circle until the sub stayed in the same place when mirrored to find just the right spot.
On my fire fighting helicopter scene I hadnt found that using transparent objects to adjust the center on mass yet and I couldnt get the water to stay in the helicopters water tank using the mirror function until I moved the tank on the helicopter so it was in the center of mass and then the water stayed in the tank when mirrored.

Wow! very nice . IŽll download your helicopter and submarine scenes. Maybe just helicopter, cause my laptop wonŽt take too much water...
And you just answered my doubts about mirroring. IŽve noticed the fact that you can only mirror an object if it is like it was when created (at least i thought that)... I made a tank that wont mirror right after some shooting, also I made a crane that had same submarine problem: if I mirror it iŽll lose the objects that i lifted.
So, mass centre is the key for mirroring... Thank you very much for the tip, Bill!

Thanks Pedro, my submarine doesnt use water it simulates it. And just have patience when messing with the mirror function, it can get frustrating!!!!!!!!!!!!
The problem you are having with the crane is like the one I had with my helicopter winch, on that one I had to add a transparent object and move the hook to the other side of the pulley and move the victim in the basket towards the back of the copter.
