Phun for PS3!

NOTE! Link - do not close this without first reading this!

-The PS3 has a mini-keyboard! - so it has enough keys
-Its is very powerful with its Cell.
-The 'Sticks can be used easily as a mouse.

This should really be seriously considered

I mean phun can virtually be ported without many changes -
We already have joysticks used as mice
We can use keyboards for destroy/mirror / hinge control keys
And most comps aren't as powerful as The Cell

I mean we nearly have Toribash for the Wii, Why not Phun for the PS3?

Re: Phun for PS3!

Phun could be ported to all platforms not just PS3 I think it would be a good idea but I think it would be algadoo that would be ported not phun

Re: Phun for PS3!

I could have sworn this was already suggested.
Adding new stuff for the PS3 though (I have one) I am never against.
Unless it's viruses.. don't add viruses.

will it could be done  (but i don't really think emil will do it)
the only set back i can see its ram which is
    * 256MB XDR Main RAM @3.2GHz
    * 256MB GDDR3 VRAM @700MHz
according to
http://playstation.about.com/od/ps3/a/P … ails_3.htm
also how will you get it??.

Re: Phun for PS3!

Ps3 could have a big probleam with phun. The cells can't multitask the same way a CPU can it has 8 cell to try and compensate this but phun has 100s of calculation every second.  With the right codes it could be done but maybe wait until phun is a little bigger.

BS :-) It can multitask like a god mate XD. Well with most thing's anyway. The reason it has that many cores is Mostly for graphical processing, due to the fact that the Ps3's Graphic's chip is near terrible (Spec wise anyway, the software makes perfect use of it!). I would like to see where you are basing your information off Mystery.

Re: Phun for PS3!

Well I don't know how well physics based applications run on the CELL.. I think the RISC design has a big disadvantage compared to modern PC processor (which sport a CISC design of course).. Not only that, but also the weak cache-sharing and relatively low instruction cache might pose problems.

Re: Phun for PS3!

It seems to perform exceptionally in Little big planet with 2K Spherical objects. But then it will only need to calculate repetitive collisions. I should go and try with a ton of tiny objects.
It may also help that Phun is asthetically pleasing AND it is not graphically taxing on hardware at all. Ps3 has OpenGL support right?
